I do not quite get the beginning, the middle, and the end of the story. Perhaps a story of confrontation between two groups. There is a relay of individuals from shot to shot that is the only thread to follow. Sometimes I feel we see more in a series of photographs we might make because we were part of the experience.

    Waiting for Lunch
I am not sure if this narrative works at this size so I included a single image to get a sense of the characters. Liz, I hope you do not mind putting my images in your thread. I am looking to forward the discussion on story telling with multiple still shots.

swifteye--I"m at home and on my computer screen your shots are little x's, however I was able to see your shots on my cellphone--go figure.

first--I do not mind you posting shots to my thread. I know it's frowned upon in other forums, but I think that here that may not be the case. In any event I dont' mind AT ALL.

Is your story about slow service? I'm not sure--not from my telephone screen anyway.
I see the impatient almost dumbfounded look on their faces. Please tell me more.

As to my shots--you guessed it---a confrontation between two groups.
I was in the thick of it with the 5D 50 1.4mm Other than my family shots and portrait work, it's the first time I truly felt comfortable with the 5d (for street shooting). I think it's because it was St. Patric's day and a camera doesn't stand out so much. The funny thing is as things got really heated and I continued to press the shutter, they noticed! and then as I thought of walking away, they posed for me:) it was the oddest thing. After posing for me they resumed the name calling and fighting.
Truth be told my original title was "5 images from yesterday". I should have stuck with that.

I rather like #1 - the gesture of lighting up being somehow classic and compelling.

You certainly were in the middle of things - lucky you didn't get bopped. :D

Poor St. Paddy - he must be spinning in his grave.

That's my favorite shot too--the first one.
I was immediately drawn to this group and stayed with them for a bit and watched the dispute unfold.
If you look at the first shot, I wasn't the only one drawn to the group, or him really.

I didn't really feel threatened or I would have left ( I think) I have to remind myself I'm not a photojournalist, not for money anyway:)

This scene did really force me to ask myself what exactly I would have done had an actual fight broken out right in front of me. I hope I would have left, but I'm not sure to be honest. Part of me would feel like those idiots that film kids getting beat up and posting them on youtube. Where does one draw the line?

Swifteye--I hope you can repost or unblock your shots because I can no longer see them even on my cellphone and when I commented it was late at night. I would very much like a discussion on posting a series of shots.
The order is crucial to the story.
Many times I think my series of shots is not as good a single shot, but I'm a fan of the series and keep trying to perfect it, though I think I missed with this one.

Like #1 and #4 as standalones or together. The six together do not tell the story without your explanation.

For #4, consider a square crop (losing left side) and taking the brightness down a little to bring out the expression on the guy with the cap.

Kudos on your courage for standing in and getting these shots!

Hmmm, not sure where it was so here it is again. I resized it to be a bit bigger. hopefully this will work. I will write more later...got to run!

    edit:
sorry it wouldn't go to my larger size just digi's default size.

Now the other shot has gone. My link must have broke to my site. Here is the detail shot.

I'm going with my initial reaction, slow service and it looks like they are quickly losing patience. The detail shots shows it more and also it looks like your own table still doesn't have coffee or juice.
I like the guy's hand motion tapping the table, the other two guys also seem highly impatient from their body language.

Also if I wanted to read something more sinister into this I could say they saw an unsavory character walk into their diner, but I don't think so, it just looks like the waitress service stinks. Am I right?

I like the series, I like the order of the shots and the detail shot just kills it.
