Hi, there is something strange happened after yesterday, the quality of my video uploads are not the same as before. They have got more mosaic. I have tried to upload two times and the same problem occured. I have done my videos with Canon EOS 7D to Adobe Premiere Elements 9 (mpeg HD 720p 25), here is example:

http://www.naturebitephoto.net/Animals/Birds/anas-crecca/16241282_XiG4c

and earlier the better one:
http://www.naturebitephoto.net/Animals/Birds/anas-platyrhynchos/15499551_3a3ea

Do you have any ideas about the causes?

Thanks, Risto

    Hi Risto,

Any time you have a lot of motion, water, reflective surfaces, etc you may see this. The problem is that the data rate is not high enough for the amount of motion you see. I can see the same issue in the water of the second video but it is not as noticeable because you are zoomed out. We are discussing options for improving this internally. I cannot give you a time estimate but look for a post on our release notes when that is updated. You can view the release notes here: http://news.smugmug.com/ I would recommend signing up for the RSS feed. Or by leaving a comment, you have the option to be notified by email when a new post is added.

I uploaded three more videos in two galleries and the same problem:

    http://www.naturebitephoto.net/Animals/Birds/mergus-merganser/16428360_9TaXA#1240446717_N38dY

    and

    http://www.naturebitephoto.net/Animals/Birds/bucephala-clangula/16441935_9Nsea

They all look good in my client side but after uploading to smugmug they are all and every sizes inaccurate (mosaic) - bad advertising for me and for ... headscratch.gif
... sigh - still waiting for improvements.

Your Blog (May 12, 2011) said that there have been done some improvement. But still my videos are broken in the Hi-Def mode and the FullHD mode. Example, the first one:
    http://www.naturebitephoto.net/Animals/Birds/corvus-corone/15500025_hKDVd I uploaded it today.

My local side everything looks fine. What can I do?

Hi, I'm sorry, but you'll need to re-upload any affected video in this case. I wish I had a better answer for you :(

How many times I must re-upload these videos? Always HD-level videos are so messy! I have re-upload at least five times by processing them in different file types, always the same result. I have used Adobe Premiere 9 and share options are MPEG, "H.264 1920x1080i 25" or "HD 720p 25". My camera is EOS 7D. As I said earlier, locally all videos look fine!

Before the last SmugMug's video processing update everything was fine in yours side.

Here is a one unsuccessful video: http://www.naturebitephoto.net/Animals/Birds/turdus-pilaris/15500202_SYMGZ#1296503120_7bw2dbb-A-LB

    I Have the same problem.
I uploaded a video yesterday, HD 1280.720 and the result is very bad. Never happened to me before with Smugmug. It's a 2,37 min. video and it took 2 hours to process. They couldn't give me an explanation other that download the last flash player plugin which I did, same thing, resstart the computer, same thing. Artifacts in the video. Though with Mozilla looks better than IE9, still something has changed. I asked if they change something when they recompress the video, but nobody answer that question.
    Very frustrated.

I just viewed the movie - can't see any difference in the film in FF or IE9. We did not change the way in which we process your videos. I wonder if there's a video card thing happening on your computer?

    Thanks for your answer.
I looked at the video on other computer using IE9 and it has the same problem.
I also uploaded a video that I uploaded a month ago, on a different gallery, and it looks bad but only on IE9.
Every video I upload now looks bad.

Specifically what is the issue? Can you elaborate 'bad' ? Maybe a screenshot would help, too.
