SoCal Sun Rays

Unusual for SoCal, we got some nice clouds. Setting sun was sending its rays down, so I just had to make a few stops on my way home and take a few shots...

St. Maximilian Kolbe church was my first stop, so I used its bell tower as a screen against direct sun:

Several layers of clouds created rather dramatic effect in the skies:

I was on my way to my favorite "sunset shooting" point, when I accidentally looked towards East and noticed the rainbow (with no rain whatsoever, it was a nice surprise):

View towards Ventura:

I just love the sun rays:

Enjoy sun rays shooting!

I agree, #2 prolly turned out to be the best (when I was sorting and rating the shots while performing PP, that was the only one that got ***** :-)

Great set Nik! What lenses were these shot with? Wide angle or tele?

And is it just me, or has image # 2 been inverted? Notice the shadow that seems to be higher then the cloud below it ....

Nice series Nik. The sun's rays through the clouds is a great capture.

18-55 kit ne_nau.gif somewhere in the middle, here's the exif:
    Aperture: f/9.0
    ISO: 200
    Focal Length: 39mm
    Exposure Time: 0.0006s (1/1600)
And is it just me, or has image # 2 been inverted? Notice the shadow that seems to be higher then the cloud below it ....
    NO!:): That's how it was!
There were several layers of clouds, and the sun was already setting down, so the lower clouds dropped shadow on the higher ones:-)
I guess that's the reason why this shot is everyone's favorite:-)

Nik - Is #4 2 brackted shots or 1 shot? Seems the rays don't match up or the clouds are off. It was a rare day so maybe that's just it.

Nik - But doesn't the sun set behind these clouds (over the Pacific) and not in the direction of the shadow? The shadow being cast makes it look the sun is setting in the East.

    IMHO
