While visiting Galveston this week with my grandson, we visited Seawolf Park where they have the USS Stewart and the Gato-class submarine (SS-244) Cavalla.
Here are a few shots of her.

Thanks Don!
BTW, anyone know why that is?
It was pretty cool for us to get to explore both this ship and the submarine there at the park. I'll post some pics of the submarine when I get a chance to process a few of them.
According to the info I linked (above) about this ship, Hurricane Ike did quite a bit of damage. It flooded pretty bad, and I'm going to assume that the damage to the side (bending) was also due to Ike's water surge forces. Ike came across Bolivar peninsula, which is only a stones throw away. Matter of fact, this park is on Pelican Island, directly across from the ferry between Galveston and Bolivar peninsula. A fella telling about the submarine stated that during Ike, the submarine actually floated off a bit from where it was sitting.
Thanks Eia,
I liked the direct on (as in directly in front of) shots myself. I can't think of many places that one could get that kind of perspective shot of a Navy ship.
Thanks Rob,
The setting sun grazing across her sure did show her dents well!
Thanks for looking
ships but stopped short in the saying. Those panels have seen some pressure. Much like whats seen on aircraft. Is what it is. Did the job and
what the crews could give her with all the hands on and spirit. Nice to see
what you looked at Randy for feel in images. The Roman numerals as
Richards points out is interesting too. Funny thing he gave up there.

Thanks for the story Michael!
That's a good question Jack, and one that I don't have the answer to.
Thanks for looking and the comments!
