Even the turtles were fast so I had very little time to make these shots. Pls C&C.

I used my Canon 7D & EFS 17-55mm lens.

#1 - Competing with the turtles

#2 - 5 secs later, working it down.

Wow! Those are some serious looking teeth, Nick! Seems like you were pretty close, too! Great job on catching those shots. Just don't let that croc catch you! Best, Pam

    I really like number 3 :)
He looks like he got caught sneaking up on those turtles for a snack and isnt very happy about it!

    Great shots!

    Thank you Pam, Jeromy,

The shots were taken from the "Los Lagartos" restaurant which is part of the Gamboa Rainforest Resort. It is built over the water (stilts) of the Chagres river so you get real close. I was within 20'. I still wish I would have brought my 70-200mm lens but we were just there to celebrate my wife's birthday so I just brought the camera with 17-55mm lens.

Yes, here is a shot from just before that. I tried some PP on this one. I should have shot this bracketed to deal with glare etc...

Bice work Nick, its a challenge to get an interesting capture of a croc or a gator and you met it.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thank you Harry. Of course it happens when you didn't bring the big lens but it's always like that so not complaining :D

Super shots. I'm glad there aren't any crocs in my area. Only gators. They look tough. thumb.gif

I would say that you captured the action quite well.

Thanks Tom & Stephen :) I'm not so sure that crocs are more dangerous than gators... the crocs seem pretty calm here eek7.gif

check out the left-most turtle in the last shot... it has either a bullet- or croc-tooth wound in it's shell !
