My Left Foot (painful disabilty photo!)

I found the first toad of the spring in my garden this afternoon, but to my horror, the poor little blighter has had a terrible life so far.

No left foot, and if you look carefully, the base of it's spine is poking out through the back end of it's body!

Having said that, it has seemingly adapted to its disabilities, because the toad was quite able to walk around a rapid rate around the side of the pond, but after I had taken a few piccies of him, I popped the said creature onto a stone in the pond itself for this shot. A minute later, it disappeared under the water, hopefully to take in some food (there are a few tadpoles just hatched which I am sure he will feast upon).

C&C as always encouraged.

Very nice image Paul. Isn't it amazing how nature provides for critters that don't have proper medical services? Such a wound would be life threatening to us. We rescued a cat who had lost half his tail and had the bone sticking out. He did not seem bothered by it as it had healed over. Eventually we took him to a Vet to have it properly fixed by removing the protruding bone (more for our sake than his).

Right on Jack. The appeared no sign of any pain at this point in it's life. I can only assume it hurt like hell at some stage though.

Excellent capture of that toad. From the look of that "blood shot" eye on the toad I would guess he's been drowning his sorrows.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Well, hopefully she's a survivor and will spawn lots of baby toads this spring.

    Great picture.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To my untrained eyes, it shows the will of life itself to adapt and continue, even in the worst of the conditions.beer.gif
