White tailed deer

I rarely post here, but I had to this time. There's a large cabbage field near where I live. At this time of year, herds of white-tailed deer congregate to fill up on the scraps left from last fall's harvest. It's not unusual to see between 100 and 200 deer spread around about a 50-acre area.

Here are just a few of them. So many people stop on the roadside to gawk that they've become immune to it.:wink

Thanks. I wish I'd been able to include the whole field - but it's a long, narrow one. There were another 75+/- deer to the left of this - all happily munching away. Sadly my 70-200 lens isn't truly long enough to get a closeup of any one of the deer. And I forgot to grab my 2x extender when I left the house. It was COLD out there on the roadside.

Take multiple shots and merge them. I don't do that myself, but I know you can. Look at this.

Interesting idea. I may take a run out there tomorrow a.m. And see if the deer are still there. If so, I'll try again. And I'll try and remember my extender this time.rolleyes1.gif

Its a scene with real possibilities. I don't think you have made the most of it yet. The subject appears to be the dear but here's nothing to draw one's eyes towards your intended subject. The first thing my eyes is drawn to is the foreground and then the trees. The deer become almost an after thought in the scene.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks for the comment. Do you think getting closer (or having the lens extender on to get closer) would solve that issue? I haven't had a chance to get back out there to try again, but will be soon.

Or, is part of it a factor of 'beige' deer on a 'beige' field?
