I have the following on my monopod:
  • Manfrotto 680B Monopod
  • Manfrotto 234RC Swivel/Tilt Head

Do you use a plate of some type or you just attach your camera/lens directly to the head?

I just attach it directly to the head. Works just fine.

I have the same 234RC, but on a Giottos monopod. I have a Kirk L-plate on my D300 for tripod use, so on the 234RC there's a Kirk QR plate to mount the camera easily and quickly on the monopod.

I put a manfrotto RC2 receptor on my Giottos mono pod for use of my QR system.....that is it ...the receptor also allows flip to vertical when needed.
