terrific as usual. we've got nothing even sprouting here. still lots of snow in shaded areas. it's on the verge though!

Only seen these pollen strands fall out of the anther like that in large flowered rhododendrons.

All beautiful, especially the 2nd and 4th. When our rhodies open up (it will be a while yet here), I'll look for this. Haven't seen it before.

Thanks for the comments Paddler.
I've only seen this on the large bloomed rhodies that tend to have quite beefy looking stigma. eg the giant leaved macbeanum types do it.
