I had great fun watching these birds skitter around the beach, running one way then turning in the opposite direction, moving as a group.
I was at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island, enjoying a last weekend walk on the beach before the beach side of the refuge closes on Friday for the piping plover nesting season.
Yes, I looked in a bird book. I'm guessing a sandpiper of some sort, maybe a sanderling. I'm a bit thrown by the winter vs. summer colors though, no idea when the colors would change - and I think I've seen this same bird there in the summer months. How far off am I?
Thanks for your help!
