The Tent Pegging (Large)

Finally after long wait i went to tent pegging event with my new 70-200, wow it felt little short :rolleyes, all these are straight out of camera, just converted from DPP and cropped some action shots, these days i am using TN LED i am not able to adjust highlights and shadows correctly, so left them as they came out in bright day light.

Don't know what I love best, the magnificent animals, the festivities, the colors, the action and of course all the wonderful facial expessions you always capture so well! I feel like I'm looking at a National Geographic magazine viewing these. I'm especially fond of the last shot! Great collection. :saurora

Great photos. You really captured the excitement. I imagine it is much harder than it looks to spear a peg? Are women (other than the one young girl) not allowed to be in the stands?

Thanks. It is very difficult, as level goes up size of peg gets smaller and speed of horse is really fast. There is no restrictions on women to enter the stand but i think it is more like cultural aspect that sports are mainly considered Man's thing, on the other hand ladies from Europe and other region of world do visit such sports events. And personally i try to stay away from shooting women as they feel uncomfortable posing or shot by stranger.

Wow, I opened this thread hoping to see a few nice shots. Well, I will say that I was happily surprised and can only say, "WOW" these are fantastic. Well done in two ways. You showed the sport as well as the people and I forgot I was looking at a picture but was transported there. That does not happen very often.
