Hi Y'all,

Its mating seasons so I've making the drive up to the rookery at the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine again.

These were taken with the D300 and the 70-200 2.8 VR + the 1.7 TC

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Boy, you did have a good day, Harry! They are all great, but I especially love #4, the roseate spoonbill making that curve--such an unusual angle, and those birds are so pretty. Really nice lighting on its wings and face, too. Also, #5, the great egret, because you really captured the lacy feathers of the mating season. The Parrot is so cute! And that is a croc, right? That photo TOTALLY conveys character! I love them all. Best, Pam

Nice series Harry. I like the spoonbill shots. Well done. Next time maybe take that macaw for me. It would make a nice conversation piece in the living room. *-) Unfortunately I have yet to get up to this rookery. Maybe one day. :-(

Yep, that's a croc. The rookery at the Alligator Farm is an amazing place to shoot. The biggest danger is the possibility of whiplash from turning around and tryibg to get all the flight shot ops that are available.

Send a few of those spoonbills up here to NY.
Why should you have all the fun?
    Great set of shots!

Thanks Shawn but I'm keeping the spoonbills. :D
