This was my first time taking pictures of a young girl that wasn't a 'model' and I was nervous about how to pose her and make sure she still looked young. She wanted mostly headshots, so sorry for the lack of variety. She's very pretty and in some of the shots looks much older than 12! Let me know what you think!

There is something really sweet about #4. I might clean up a couple of stray hairs, though. There are a couple that look like they focus is slightly off. I do really like the pose and composition of #3.

I bet it was a fun shoot. She looks like she could be easy to get laughing :) A couple of those shots would really bring it all together!

I agree with Kinkajou. They all seem a wee bit soft to me. The eyes sparkle, but focus is not crisp. That said, they are very attractive. It's so refreshing to see portraits of a beautiful young girl who is not tarted up. Oh, the braces! Perfect. Is she going to use these headshots for a modeling portfolio?

I REALLY like #3. Even the softness works for me in that pose.

Question, could the original sized files be sharp and the softness caused by the reduction of file size for posting on the web?

Softness aside, I love this series- age appropriate and casual. I bet she'll be thrilled.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, I could not host these from Smugmug because her parents wanted her gallery password protected. These are all hosted from tiny pic, as VERY small. In my opinion, all the ful sizes are pretty sharp. I will host one bigger here so you can see what you think.

Also, if I get her parents permission, I'd love to show you some shots we did in her cheer outfit! Boy does this little girl have some crazy jumping skills!! :-D

I think the chemistry worked well between the two of you and it shows in these images...job well done there.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Hosting on other sites can cause undesirable results such as softer looking images or graininess due to compression ratios.
Isn't it possible to still hotlink images from locked down albums at Smug?
I believe it is...

Yeah... just make sure external links are enabled and you're set.

I know I can do that, but the parents are concerned bc she is so young (very protective Dad) so I didn't want anything that linked ;-)

If her parents are concerned, do you have their consent to share the photos here? Anyone can grab those images as you have them here - either from the forum or from the source gallery (which is easy to find by looking at the source of your post).

It's not the size of the image that matters in the case of privacy, it's the fact that the image is available for viewing by anyone.

Very cute young lady. I like 5 a lot.
I am curious, it looks like you tried to get rid of the braces with mixed success.
Can you post a shot with the braces intact?
