My feeble attempt at duplicating the look of wet plate dating back to 1842:

I think you nailed it. My only nit is that when I first looked at the image quickly, I thought that the arm of the couch was one of her legs and that you were giving us a wide-open shot!!! The angle, size, and height of the arm is really similar to her bent leg, and since there is a lot going on in the costuming, it seemed plausible that one leg would be plain and the other checkered... and the checkered part of her skirt is falling in a little V.... Fortunately, I looked closer and everything seems to be just fine :) Would this confusion have been possible in color? Is the couch a different enough color that it would be clear that it is distinct from your subject?

That said, the shot is technically perfect and I think that the look you were going for is spot-on. Really nicely done.

I was so concentrated on the treatment I didn't pay any attention to that bit of oddity....
    Thanks much...

I love the processing here. You really nailed the PP. The pattern and fabric of the leggings just don't fit with the period IMHO.

Mitch I thought of that too and I do have some tighter shots of her that I am considering.
I think that's where the anomaly lies with what the others mentioned....

I've made a few tweaks to the original that fix this illusion but I'm also rethinking the HSL scheme for wet plate emulation since I did not observe the fact that cool colors are rendered light and warm dark inherently....

I'll post the results here :D
    Thanks

Yeah I had a hard time placing the legs also....
Looks like a fun project. I imagine the lack of contrast is appropriate for the style, I like it.
