I got mine... earlier in the month but had to send it back to Sanyo because of an I/O error. Every time I tried to copy files from my kingston compact flash cards (shots from full raw 5D2 images) onto the drive, after 5 or 6 images it would come up with a time out issue causing it to stop transferring over. This is their latest drive, the UDMA ipad colorspace version.

I also tried on a different kingston CF card with new images taken off the 5, as well as one of my sandisks.

So after sending it back, the customer rep. said that he tried to swap out the hard drive thinking it might have been that, but also hit that error.

I haven't heard back from him, but so far, his reasonings were that either the cards or the data on the cards come in corrupted which leads me to wonder.

I used an older hyperdrive a couple years ago with the same CF cards and 5D2 with full size raws perfectly (borrowed the drive from a friend), but with the latest one I am getting time out errors. :dunno

Any ideas? Sanyo still has the drive so I can't really fiddle with it now.

CF cards have their own onboard drive controller and it's not unusual to find specific incompatibilities between specific cards and specific devices. UDMA also introduces potential incompatibilities.

Try another card manufacturer to see if that solves your problems. I have had very good luck with Sandisk cards in an old Hyperdrive HD80.

I'll have to give that a try once the unit returns to me.

    Oh this really sucks.
