Proofing and Lightroom 3

I have recently started using the proofing delay to polish up ordered photos. I use Lightroom 3 to do this. Up until this point, I have made the changes in Lightroom, then exported the final image files to my desktop, then uploaded them through SmugMug's Review Order page. These photos then show in Lightroom as needing republished. Can I just re-publish these photos through Lightroom and once that is completed send the order to print, instead of the manual export and re-upload through SmugMug? Just when does the image get sent to the lab? I assume it is after I click the "Send to the Lab now" button.
I have also run into some problems replacing mutiple photos at once using the export to desktop method. When I select the multiple photo replace option and select the "polished" photos, SmugMug says it can't find matching photos so they don't upload. The polished photos have the same file name as the original. If the re-publish through Lightroom option works, then this issue won't matter for me.

Yep, you can use the Republish option in Lightroom 3! It'll go through and republish the edited photos, replacing those in your SmugMug galleries, as well as in the order itself (which use the images within the gallery). Once they're all updated, you can visit your Pro Sales screen, and send the order to the lab. It is important you do this while the order is still in Proof Delay, otherwise the lab will have already received the images they're going to print from.
I hope this helps! Shout with more questions.
