Most of you know what a sucker I am for documenting everyday moments w/ family and friends.

Here is a sampling of one such get together from last weekend.

Two days ago we got word that a friend of ours had passed away--it was shocking. We had just had a gathering of friends last month just to listen to records and drink wine. Michael, our friend, was there. I am thankful to have record of the occasion.

That's him pouring the wine

My sister grabbed the camera from me and took a few shots which included me--that's me laughing with Michael and I remember why--we were arguing about what song #3 was on Zeppelin's first album on side A--It was "You Shook Me" he was right--the shot was taken right at the moment that I admitted my defeat and was laughing because I had argued so hard. I remember it exactly.

Hi Liz. The conversion on #1 looks a little funky to me. Can't quite place my finger on it. Very, very good shot, and that's what first jumped at me (okay, the first thing was "judging from the controller, I'm guessing they're playing the original XBox...how sad is it that I looked for that detail?)

The entire series is very warm and shows some strong, solid friendships. Smiles, laughter, wine...not much more you can ask for in a friendly gathering.

So sorry for your loss. You are right, capture every moment you have. You never know if there will be another one. Thank you for sharing a little slice of your life.

I like #1 so much. The mirror adds a lot to the space of the room. Even the covered faces of two of the four boys speaks to their individual isolation while playing video games. Great moment.

Nice series. Sometimes in these documentations getting any shot is better than worrying about composition and other photographic elements.

Processing on first and last ("warmer whites") are different than middle ones (which have a "bluish-grey" tone).

#1 is my favorite. Although all the other photos could have happened in any era #1 shows a modern cultural shift and I really enjoy it. The focus on their faces!

Very nice, expressive series. Don't really have a favorite--they're all good. It looks to me like #1 has been toned--maybe that's what Nyarthlopic was seeing--but the rest look like straight B&W. Looks like you're putting that 5D to good use. thumb.gif

Sorry to hear about your friend. Shocking, indeed.

Wonderful, Liz - These just keep getting better and better - weird tone in #1 aside.

Just taking pictures is always good. I never have regretted having pictures of me and my friends having fun. Snapshots are often good enough.

    Sorry for your loss.

It sounds like you know the best way to listen to vinyl. Sit and enjoy it with friends. thumb.gif Wonderful series. I'm so sorry for your loss, but what a blessing that you took the time to capture these most recent photos.
