Manfrotto 293 or 3rd party Tripod Mount Collar?

Anybody have advice on this question I'd love to hear it. I have a Canon 100-400L
plus Canon TX 1.4II to use on a 7D. I have a tripod collar for the 100-400 of course
but will also be getting a 70-200 f/4 IS and using the TX 1.4 on it as well.
SO, I guess my burning question is, do I get a decent 3rd party tripod collar mount for the
70-200 f/4, or
would it be more a solid set up to go with a Manfrotto 293 or equivalent which I could
also use on the 100-400 + Tx 1.4II, or if I win the lottery a BIG lens?
I just have never used the Manfrotto 293, but have heard it is more stable and you have less
lens flex concerning lens to camera connection, etc.
I have also heard that you don't need the tripod collar for the 70-200 f/4 IS, but since I'd be
adding another 1/2 pound to the lens I'm not convinced.
I have shot the 7D with the 70-200 f/4 IS (loaner) and my TX 1.4II. It starts getting a little
long and after shooting a while can get tiring, so my images suffer.

Guess I assumed most people that would reply to my thread would know that the
Manfrotto 293 is not a tripod leg set, but is a camera/lens body support set.
Nor would I "hang a long lens off a tripod with out support".
I'm not a newbie to photography. Started out in the 70s with a Minolta XK Motor.
Came to this forum after switching from Minolta/Sony, on the Dyxum site, to Canon.
