After looking it up, the photo is much more appreciated. I like the sideward glance of the woman in the scarf in the second.

While I'd like to think that #1 works OK without understanding the Spanish, it's also true that it was the text that made me take the shot. "La casa de" means house of. "Novias" has several meanings: brides; girlfriends; fianceés. It probably sold wedding dresses, and may have moved next door.

I deeply resent that insensitive remark. Who you callin' John?

The oldest profession that should be legalized--but don't get me started.

For prostitutes they sure are covered up and wearing lots of clothing. They don't look very different from some of the people walking in my neighborhood and I don't think they are prostitutes (the ones in my neck of the woods)

So is this a well known area? I'm just curious because other than the loitering, and tight pants they don't reall scream "whores".

I remember Times Square in the 80's and I was in the van with my mother, grandmother and step dad and the ladies took their tops off and raised their skirts up etc. It was very clear.

OK as for your shots--love #1 what with the name of the store and the prostitues, but had you not said it I would have never known they were prostitues, but now that I know the shot is great.

FWIW, Liz, I agree with you.
As for your uncertainty, well, you were never a sailor. We have very finely tuned radars.

Yes, the street is notorious--there's little doubt.
