I thought these came out alright for a first time. Taken at Wildfire Golf Course in Phoenix, AZ. C&C is very much welcome.

Ohhh, she's really got orange and red skin... here's a couple of great help pages that can assist you with getting good skin tones, and adjusting for too-red as well.

Also, you've got way too much saturation in these files - I'd love to see 'em again with better skin tones and color.

Sorry for being blunt and direct, but I thought you'd want to know. Holler with questions.

Welcome to the board first off....
My observations are the same as Andy's initially I'd start there and then other items can be discussed further. One aspect that's very important for proper rendering is a reasonably decent display (calibration).
    Good start though :D

I also don't do this anywhere near professionally. I only just turned 18 and really enjoy photography.

    Hey Andy,

Could you pick out a few photos for me to redo? I'm still learning alot and would love to redo some and see what you think.

No worries, we all start somewhere and these are a good start.:D
I reckon you wish to improve your skills even if you're just doing this for fun right now.

Agree on the colour - I think you need to check ALL of those on that front.

You've got a pretty girl and some nice poses, compositions and stunning backgrounds. My main problem is that on this monitor most of them look as though the eyes are slightly out of focus - if they're sharp at your end, that could be because of the resizing for the web, so don't worry about it if they're crystal clear at full size.

Also, while the pictures are bright overall, often her face is darker than the background, so we look at what's behind her first. If you can take whatever software you use and brighten up her face just a little, then I think they can work very well.

    Nice start! thumb.gif

The lighting on the face is a flat lighting which is not want you want. You also have racoon eyes as the light is mostly overhead and that brow blocks the light and gives you dark eyes. You need to use a flash that you can dial the power down to fill in light. You can even hold a piece of large cardboard over her head to block the light and then you should have some light direciton.

You have a good start here. She appears to be very comfortable with you as her photographer and that is a big plus.

PS, don't forget to take the hair tie off her wrist. I wish those things were never invented.
