I like the photo a lot. I can't figure out how you did it but it almost looks like you used both fill flash and hdr? I also can't figure out where this was shot (I'm Dutch and visited a lot of windmills) but am pretty sure it isn't in Holland (so it probably is).

Nice shot - agree about the well done composition and control of light
I remember a very cold bike ride to that windmill over 5 years ago...
