where are they?

Back in February, I started a tread where I asked for advice as to which camera to buy.

I received excellent responses from all of you to the point that, after extensive research and getting the appropriate permission from the BOSS (the wife) I decided to go with the Nikon d7000 which is the advice received from all of you.

The problem is: Where are they? both BH Photo and Adorama have then in back order and BH is not even taking reservation. Those anyone have an idea when the camera will become available? Could it be that the terrible earth quake that affected Japan is having an impact? I was under the impression that Nikon cameras were made in Thailand.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Joe :scratch:scratch

There have been lots of problems that could have affected both production and distribution from the Far East.

Amazon claims to have some available, both body alone and with a kit lens, both pricey. Not my first choice but ...

Ritz Camera claims to have several of the "kits" available. You could buy a kit and sell the lens.

Ryther Camera claims to have the camera alone and a pretty good price. I've never heard of them but they do have good Google and ResellerRatings:

I have seen them at Costco sold out in CA but available in Las Vegas might want to check online. Some of the local shops near where I live still have some last time I was there. Mostly kits

Costco here in Northern Nevada had the kits for 1700.00 I think and there were two big pallets of them. Otherwise, not sure.

Am getting very close to buying myself a D7000 as I have too many hot pixels on my D90... but it seems that they're over 200GBP cheaper in the US and for the first time in a while I won't be going Stateside for another 5 weeks! Wait 5 weeks... or lose the 200 pounds :cry

    Cost
In the US the camera is being sold for US 1,199.95, which is what I paid to BH photo.

Why you don't try to order it via the Internet? Can it be done from your county?

Because the sneaky people at customs will stop it on the way in and charge me duty negating the saving.

    I'm just being impatient :D

    I just received my new D7000! clap.gif

I feels solid and it is a little heavier than my D80 but not by much. I am planning to do a "photo expedition" for this weekend. I see if I can post some photos sometime next week.

This past Saturday I was able to go to a park in Miami called Pinecrest Gardens. I took over 80 photos there and I have picked 3 of those photos to display here. I also included a photo taken in my backyard. These photos have not been processed by the camera or by me, the only thing I did is to reduce the size to meet the requirements of this forum.

This was taken in my backyard. Quality = Fine, ISO = 100, F 5.60, S 1/200, WB = Auto (I forgot to changed it to something else) At 200mm.
The lens in use is the Nikon 18-200mm

I tried to upload the other 3 photos by the system is not allowing me to do it. What I am doing wrong?

    Thanks

You're only allowed to upload one photo per post. I'd recommend posting them on your website (hidden in some locked gallery is fine) and linking to them in your post.

The low resolution of the upload is making the photo look soft... or is it really soft?
