Once more into the breech! All critique and suggestions welcome.

Do you prefer the close-ups to the broader view? With or without the finger? Hand position? Bad idea?

Monolith is an awesome idea. #3 says wall more than monolith however. I like the colors and angle of the 'lith better in one, like the treatment of the finger better in #2. Not sure if it actually needs the finger.

Any chance of getting a monkey with a thigh-bone into the scene? Just checkin'. :lol

ok I don't get it. I am missing something.
However, I like shot #2. It reminds me of some the very grandiose scenes he did as in Space Odyssey. Plus it has that weird factor which well...

I like the way the monolith fills the photo & the colors in #1. The hand seems familiar, can't place it but I'm guessing it's somewhere in the 2001 Odyssey. I also like the perspective of the hand in #2 & the "watery" look of the monolith.

It's funny--I have yet to see this movie. Just from the brief and quick study I've done the last couple of days, skimming really, wish I had time for more, of some of his work, I got "space odyssey" from this shot.

After you posted this, I went and looked up monolith and Stanley Kubrick and guess what?

Now I get it.
But it must work if not even seeing the movie I got Space Odyssey from this--just sayin.

Excellent! I highly recommend seeing it. I saw it when it first came out for 25 cents at the college movie night. It was a packed house.

Daylight lasts altogether too long this time of year.

I am not yet satisfied with these, but thought I could do with some feedback before reshooting again tonight.

You know. I really liked your two with the Big blue sky in them, but these with Dark Sky make me want to see some action within the dark space. Could be lightening, or light orbs, or other such stuff as one can conjure up.

those last two are fun. Just a thought on the 'hand model'. I believe the emotion during that sequence is of fear and curiosity as they gather the courage to approach and then 'touch' the monolith. I'm getting a sense of 'pointing' rather than 'touching' if that makes any sense.

Thanks, Tom and Paul! I took a few minutes to watch the opening scenes of the movie again. You are spot on about the hand.

Unfortunately, we are not expecting blue skies through the rest of the challenge period. I may get lucky and have the mostly cloudy days open up a bit. I am hoping the rain we are supposed to get tonight will hold off a while. If not, I am likely to have lots of spots on the lens.

Well, I finally got out for a reshoot of the night shots. Daytime weather has not been cooperating, but I may get another chance at it this afternoon.

Does right handed work better than left handed? This is a little more straight on.

I love the larger starburst and I think this is just terrific on the overall sense of the 'touch'.

Gotta say the last three all work for me for slightly different reasons.

Number 6 has the best shadows from the fingers, although the hand shape is a bit awkward (at first glance, I thought there were two hands).

Number 7's flare and hand postion give it an edge (as evidenced by Froch and SeascapeS' posts before me.

Number 8 is just funny. And... speaks to me about a possible evolutionary line we may have missed from primates to taggers. Not sure, it'd be the best entry, but it's my favorite!
