Thaks David. That "ouch" is from the frog's perspective. The heron/Andy reaction would be much different. :lol

Nah Jeff. The heron dipped the frog and washed off all that fine ruffage. I'm sure whats his name will find his own heron and frog sooner or later. :D

He flew off with the frog so I never saw the end of the drama but I've seen them swallow fish bigger than that frog. Here's a link to a post on another forum

I think the frog's expression looks like he's thinking, "Oh crap. And I thought that passing shadow was an airplane. . . "

Those great blues have great appetites!!! I've got a pic somewhere (35mm) of a GBH attacking a good sized black tip shark that a fisherman realed in. Tried to eat the darn thing still on the line/hook. It was a decent sized shark...maybe close to 2' in length. I couldn't believe what I was watching. I almost forgot to take a picture I was so amazed. I've seen the pelicans eat some pretty large fish also....not to mention several at a time. eek7.gif

A year ago, I would never have believed this shot. But thanks to the

    Hey Ian,

I always remember the first tiem I saw a GBH spear a fish. I said to myself "that's why they have those long pointy bills" 11doh.gif

It realy is amazing to see them in action.

Frank's an amazing photographer. All the herons and egrets have the ability to swallow prey that looks like its impossible for them to get down.
