Is that really a bullet? Cool shots however you did it. I love water images but have not spent much time on them as of yet. GP

It's a .22 caliber pellet shot from a pistol traveling at 850 feet per second.

This image clearly shows the moment of impact

Photographing water drops is easy. Photographing a water drop while shooting it is challenging, especially when it's hand held.

This one took some planning and set-up

Wow! Amazing and super cool. It does look a bit dangerous though. May want to make sure and have your model sign a waiver. deal.gif

Seriously, that's a lot of things to manage at once. Incredible work.

That's me holding the cup. It just looks dangerous. The shot was calculated and planned precisely and the outcome was never in doubt.

The technique is to hold the dish very, very steady and hope your thumb is still attached to your hand after the shot.

Shot fired into 10 gallons of water

yes! I wonder what happens with different shaped pellets (round, diabolo etc.). I think the shape of the exploding drop will change with it :)

    ciao!

You are correct. I use various grain pellets, as well, and get different results. I experiment with hollow-point, wadcutters, and blunt round nose depending on what I am shooting.

The wadcutters make a mess of the drop as seen in the image below while the sharp-point pellets leave a clean blast

Semi-round nose pellet leave a clean impact
