My Dad just passed away a few days ago. This is one of my favorite photographs I took of him. Just posting to honor him. He was a very happy, pleasant man! I miss him terribly!

I love his eyes and wrinkles... his eyes look so kind, and his wrinkles tell stories. I am so glad you have this photo to remember him by.

The hat tells me he was a "character"....and I bet I'm right about that!mwink.gif

Losing someone who has been that close to you for your entire life is never easy. Even if you dont see or speak to them everyday, their mere presence on Earth provides a sense of security....and normalcy. I am very sorry for your loss.

I recently dug up an old post from an old friend about a son that he lost. It included a poen that I am sharing below.....

    TOGETHERNESS

    Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away
into the next room.

    I am I,
and you are you;
whatever we were to each other, that, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name,
speak to me in the easy way
which you always used,

put no difference in your tone,
wear no forced air
of solemnity or sorrow.

    Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we shared together.

    Let my name ever be
the household word that it always was.

Let it be spoken without effect,
without the trace of a shadow on it.

    Life means all
that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

    I am waiting for you,
for an interval, somewhere very near,
just around the corner.

    All is well.

One brief moment and all will be as it was before,
    only better, infinitely happier,
and forever we will be one together.

Thank you All very much for your beautiful comments. They are very edifying. He encouraged me all the time with my pursuits and went with me on adventures when I was young - even up to his last week on earth. Dad was a faithful and Godly man so I know in the end all will be well.

I'm so sorry. I wish I had a photo that espressive of my father who I lost a year ago. Make sure, if there are any wee ones, that they see that picture often. It will really help them remember their grandfather (or great-grandfather in my dad'd case.) The photo is a treasure.
