Custom Hostnames

I got my new domain name, changed the Cname with the resistrar. When I go to change the custom hostname in the control panel, I get an error that the hostname is not valid. Do I have to wait for all the DNS servers to update before I change the custom hostname?

    It can take up to 48 hours, though it's usually MUCH faster.
    YOU CNAMEd to domains.smugmug.com yes?

    Yes, I changed it exactly as you show it. I will try again tomorrow.

    My domain is through Network Solutions. I didn't delete my A records. Once I deleted them everything was fine. Thanks for the help.

    Glad to hear you're all set now.

    Yes, if you have CNAME and A record for the www host/alias, the A record takes over and the domain won't work properly.
    Don't confuse this with the A record set for the @ host (yourdomain.com) which is required for the domain to work without the www.
