Subject Distance??

Could someone please help me understand how to decipher the "Subject Distance" numbers that are part of the photo Information on the Detailed tab? For example I have a photo that indicates the Subject Distance is 238/10. I am using a Canon 7D, if that helps. Thanks.

    Just under 24 meters. We just report the info in the file, that's how Canon shows it to us.

    Andy, Thanks for the quick response. So would 829/100 be just over 8 feet? I thought that those number might be metric, but I guess not.

    The exif spec says that SubjectDistance is given in metres.

    Thanks David, I kind of thought it might be meters instead of feet. Appreciate your feedback.
