I did it! Bought my very (you notice I said MY) first lens for the Reb..Drum roll please...Canon 70-200 f4L!!! Yehaw. I know, know not great shakes to many but I am SO excited I can hardly stand it! Don best hurry up and figure out what lens he wants or there won't be money left for him to buy squat.

Dave you must have been reading my mind since I bought it last night and almost posted then. Can't figure out how to link that thread..sorry..

Long and the short of it, played around a bit with the 75-300 and the 70-200 is the perfect 'long' zoom for me. That with the high marks it gets from the DGrinners it was a no brainer.

    You will love that lens.
I had one then decided to sell it to get a Canon 200 F2.8 prime lens.
I hate to say it, but I wish I hadn't sold the zoom. I guess I'm just a zoom
    kind of guy.

The 70-200 that I had was sharp from F4 - F16. (that's the smallest aperture
    that I shot with)
The speed at which it focuses will make you hate every other lens that you
own that isn't an "L" lens. This "L" thing will become an addiction that no one
    can be cured of.:D

    Enjoy the lens.

Now you have to get Don to buy a wider angle "L".

Here's a link to my gallery from the 70-200.

I took these the day before I sold it. I look at them now and wonder why
    I sold that lens.

This was at a Raptor release.
They were releasing 3 hawks that had been rehabilitated.
The other birds couldn't be released, their injuries couldn't be healed.
So they are residents at the Center.

Oh so that was at the UM 'The Raptor Center'? Pat Redig (DR.) is considered the raptor God. If its fixable 'at all' he's the one to do it. Cool

I'm pretty sure that's the one, but not positive.
In the winter, we had the Great Grey Owl invasion here in Minn.
A lot of these birds were hurt by cars, I guess they weren't used to seeing cars.
So the news said that the raptor center could use some money to help with
the upkeep of the owls. The wife and I made a donation and we ended up on
a mailing list, and that's how we knew about the release. I just don't remember
where we sent the check. But I think it was the UofM.
