Went to home depot and couldn't resist this orchid. Good opportunity to practice my focus stacking. Any comments?

Very nice shot, Mitchell. I've been eyeing up those orchids at HD also. Too many interesting flowers. Might have to get one of each. :D

    Well done. thumb.gif

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Not much different from shooting at the zoo IMO. :D You have to take the shots where you find them. I get the feeling Mitch took this flower home and set it up for that nice blue background. :uhoh

    Nice shot, excellent focus throughout.

I know you're just practicing the stacking thing, but I'll mention that I actually found it disconcerting that the DOF was so wide. I would have liked a bit less DOF. But you don't care, since that wasn't your intention. Just thought I'd say it.

    David,

    Thanks for your comments.

Actually, I do care what you say about my pics. Your one of the few here who seems to regularly respond to my posts and questions. Yes, this was an exercise in focus stacking. Interestingly, these did not require a lot of work because most of the blooms were in the same plane. In a way, I agree with your comments. It would be nice to have one bloom stand out in focus with the others blurred. I just did not have a focal point for such a shot. All the blooms are very similar.

This was my fist attempt at formal floral photography. Just used a 60W light bulb in a dark room with a black background.

Thanks again for looking AND commenting.

I wasn't suggesting that you don't appreciate comments, only that I was commenting on one thing, when you were "going for" another.
