I was out'a here like a shot after church Sunday when I got an alert about
a Roseate Spoonbill three hours from here. This would be the 1st spring
state record and only the 10th state record for this bird. It was seen in the
morning at the Duck Creek Conservation Area but not by me after
searching. :D Later in the day I refound it at the Mingo National Wildlife
Refuge adjacent to the CA.
The closest I could get was about 150yds. 7D 500L+2x

I think that record was worth the three hours of travel!
    Well done!

Al, I agree with Lindiwe! We see them very occasionally where I live, and they are probably my favorite birds to photograph, just because they are so pretty! GREAT JOB! Best, Pam

Al, I looked at your outstanding website, and your roseate spoonbill, like ours, seems to gravitate towards egrets. I liked your flying picture, too. They are so beautiful when you see them in the air! What a great capture for you! Best, Pam

I was beginning to think, NOT, when searching for it but luckily found it later in day. Thanks

Unfortunately a fast flying pink bird, glob, far off with a dense background is
almost impossible to manual focus on.

    Thanks Pam
Here's some from right around the corner from you.

Wow, I've never seen more than one at a time, and you had 3 together. Where in Louisiana was this? I am told they nest not that far from us--I just wish more would come our way! Best, Pam

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks Harry, but whatcha do to scare it up here? First ever in the spring. Usually, 10 times, we only get a rare late season wanderer.

btw, I can kick myself for not switching the 7D to video.:cry
