What exactly is "refurbished" at Adorama?

i'm looking at buying a "refurbished" lens from Adorama, but i'm just curious as to what the refurbished standards might be. do they just wipe it down real good and twist the zoom a couple times to check to see if it still moves ok? or is there more to it than that. Anyone know?

All refurbs I have purchased cams and lenses, have been taken apart, cleaned, adjusted and lubed and also anything that might cause a problem was replaced.....and then give the asme warranty as a brand new one.....when something is refurbed, in the photo world, it is my understanding that it is much better inspected than when it goes out the door for the 1 st time......I could be wrong.......I have never had a prob with a refurb, cause saving money is never a prob with me....

I will probably continue to purchase refurbished Nikon's from Adorama in the future. You can purchase their extended warranties also.

I know that they are at least my Nikon P100 was factory refurbished the same that they list on the Nikon Site. Manufacturing process is always flawed to a certain extent quality control or something coming loose during shipping happens. Camera or lens goes back and gets closer attention than it got on the assembly line. I would buy again if the item I was looking for was available.
