I love the colors and your exposure is pretty good. Your aperture setting was 4.5 which is way to open for a scene like this. I would have stepped it down to f11 at least. The horses which are a vital component of the scene seem soft which is probably due to the aperture setting. Its hard to say w/o being there but I think I would have tried to compose the scene differently from the center weighted composure you went with.

Despite my nits it is a very appealling capture.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Harry said it about the horses needing to be sharp. I think the mountains/trees are a great backdrop thumb.gif Those different hues make the shot.

Can you get back there & shoot it smaller ap as harry said ?

15524779-Ti.gif THe shallow depth of field is really buggin' me on this one. I do like the subtle shades of color. F/16 is your friend. thumb.gif So is a good sturdy tripod and cable release. :uhoh :D

Wow guys, i've learned alot. :D Been staring at it myself all day and come to a few of the same conclusions.

I had left the lens wide open to try and draw attention to the horses, and it didn't work in my favor the way I envisioned. Not at all! I normally shoot f8 or higher on landscapes as a rule of thumb, as I know that particular lens isn't too sharp all the way open. Should have followed my own rules. thumb.gif

Also the comp has been bugging me too - the call out was right, it's too center weighted. I didn't see it when I was taking it, I was enamored with the colors and the landscape. iloveyou.gif

Oh well, shoot and learn. I appreciate the feedback, very very much so!!

(and gus, no, sadly I don't make it there very often to reshoot, it's a few/four hours from here, I actually tent camped there that night after the shot. It's ok, there'll be others!)
