Hi folks, please accept our sincerest apologies for the unusually long interruption in service. We encountered some issues during our regularly scheduled maintenance window and are working hard to get back online. We know you guys pay the bills and are very sorry for the inconvenience.

You can stay posted on the site status here: http://status.smugmug.com/services/entire-site

Currently we're in Read Only mode while our engineers continue to sort things out.

Were you able to get the new features in as well, or was it a backout situation?

I have looked at the release notes etc and see nothing about new features.

    Cheers - N

But a tweet earlier today said new features and improvements... I just wondered if the hw problems stopped them rolling the new features out... it's probably only some more social media stuff though...

    Cheers, Neil

    Apparently not.

I just tried to access my control panel and got bumped to the SM main page.

I would suggest that you change your process in updating the status page at http://status.smugmug.com/. The status shows as "site is up", yet attempts to access smug sites are flipping between a 503 and the site slowly showing.

In addition, attempting to purchase photos returns nothing - no message saying in read only mode, no display of cart to select sizes / quantities.

I was able to add a few photos to an upload that was discontinued during the night, but now it appears we are back to read-only, and e-gads, now my gallery that had 64 images in it turning up empty.

I was also horrified to find that the outage knocked most of my photos off of my various blogs, which is no surprise, really, since most of my photos are linked to SM. I'm just a little freaked out, realizing all the eggs I have in one basket. oy.

I only use this site as a hobbyist, it's annoying when my the photos linked here in my blog don't show up. If I were a pro I wouldn't use this site to sell my images though, these outages seem to be pretty regular and would not look good to any potential clients.

I just got an e-mail saying I'll be billed for $60 for another year at smugmug, if I didn't have so many photos linked to my blog I'd bail I think.

My custom header is also broken, as is my favicon.

Not to worry, the images in your gallery should come back once the site is back up in full force.

I've got the site back up, but when I try to upload I'm getting failures on all images, and it's really slow. Is this a different problem, or does it mean it's still read only?

I look at it this way, They gave us advanced notice, and if a short delay in service now prevents a long delay in service later then I am all for it.
Look at this time as a chance to go take some more incredible images.

I would go out and take some pics but it's 11.30pm and raining outside, it's time for bed as I have to work tomorrow.

It's been down for several hours, not a short delay I think. if it were a free site I could put up with it I suppose. But it's something I pay for and I expect a little bit more.

Still, it's not the end of the world.

My credo is, "Any day I don't have to call tech support is a good one." Apparently, this day started off out of the running. rolleyes1.gifroflrolleyes1.gif

No, not the end of the world, but it does add up. Between spending the better part of 2 days last week going back and forth between Comcast and Verizon, trying to work out the best service for my rental property; then the 3 hours on the phone with Verizon trying to straighten out their having erroneously disconnected my Internet at my non-rental property (plus the 24 hours of interruption in service, during which time I ws unable to work); then the 2+ hours I spent at the Verizon store trying to straighten out cell phone issues (and the hour this morning, returning the case for the phone I didn't end up getting, plus walking up to Fed-Ex), and now a small job I'd like to finish up before the weekend but can't because SM was down and now I have to move onto other things - whew - I'm about beat. Anybody know of a good techno-detox program?

My problem is I've got a client who needs images today. I was hoping to put the images in an album and let him download the ones he wants. Now I have to zip all the images, host the file, so he can download it, then choose the images he wants. Should have been done this morning, but I'm still uploading the zip to the host (15.52pm). I'm all for maintenance, but this is buisness. I need reliability.
