Can anyone recommend a remote timer for Canon 5d II and 7D. Mine just broke and I really do not want to spend 150 for the Canon, but the reviews on others look poor.

Thanks,

Dan:D

I bought one from ebay last summer, seems okay working fine and i think it was under 30$ with shipping. Just realize they have website too! www.aputure.com my model number is AP-TR3C. Cord feels solid, plastic construction is ok. Only downside is that it cannot be completely switched off, but battery is still good after 1 year.

I Just looked it up and they are $149.95 at Amazon.

The simple remote switch for A 5D or 1D is about $50.00

I'm currently testing some other Aputure gear for a friend who lives in China, and it's quality stuff. I can highly recommend it...

The Pearstone at B&H seems to have very good reviews (and a lot of 'em) and it is 1/3 the price. I've been looking at that one (the tethered version).

I got a cheap brand of intervalometer to use with my 7D off Amazon for 16$, works perfectly. Sorry Canon, but I cant justify spending nearly 10x the cost for such simply circuitry.

One concern of mine with any intervalometer is whether or not the cord and plug can cooperate with an L-plate attached to the camera body. This changes with the plate and camera, of course.

In addition to the Nikon, I use the Pearstone Shutter Boss. I understand that it works with Canon as well, just uses a different cord. Use it wired, use it wireless, it works great.

Looking at the Pearstone Shutterboss items offered on B&H, for $49.95 - they all look quite well done.

I may just order one to have a backup to my Canon version which I have had for some time, and always have to go hunting to see where I left it last.

Nothing beats the TC80-N3. Well worth the money if you plan to really use it in the comming years.

I do like it, Manfred. I hope the connector holds up. :D
