Hello folks. Some of the local chicks and young juvenile birds. It's always a wonderful thing to see all the baby birds being introduced in to the neighborhood.. :barb Thanks for looking.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

:eat:eatI don't know about sexy, but those are some fine looking chicks for sure, Mike! Are their eyes always red compared to the mature ones, or is it just the light? I was just thinking yesterday that it would be nice to see another one of your great series, so I'm glad you got with it! Best, Pam

Nice work! We got a lot of Osprey's and eagles around here, but I find it hard to get a good angle at the nests. I guess I need a longer lens, or a ladder, or both!

Hi Pam. Sorry...forgot to answer you. Senior moment. eek7.gifrolleyesheadscratch.gif

Yes the chicks/juvies have the red/orange colored eyes and they change over time as the bird matures. You will also notice the brown backside feathers have a very nice looking white pinstripe around the tail edge of the feathers on teh young birds. This thin white edge to the brown feathers vanishes with age as well. They sure are cute when they are young. deal.gif

Here is a shot from a couple days ago. They sure do grow up fast. You might notice the white marks on the top side ofthe young bird. Not quite ready to fledge yet but they sure think they can fly. They practice take off and landing over the nest. It's a lot of fun to watch. The older young seem to taunt the youngest chick that can't "fly" yet. It's terrible. Laughing.gif

Mike, that is so cool! The practice flying by jumping up and landing back down on the nest. Thanks for the lesson and letting us see this through your eyes. Are you (or any of your friends) sporting hats that could appear to be landing strips to the young birds these days? :D Best, Pam

Hi Pam. No such hats. I think I'm allergic to feathers. eek7.gifscratchrolleyes1.gifroflrolleyes1.gif
