Lightroom 3, On the road, then at Home

So i use lightroom. I have it on a Macbook Pro. I tend to do a good bit of tethered shooting on location. I use the software to show the pictures to the client as i shoot and let them choose which headshot works for them. Here are the issues. I am hoping that they are all solved by something i am doing wrong.

1. The camera/software seem to loose connection, and i have to stop and restart the tethered session. Advice?

2. At home, i store my LR library on an external FireWire editing drive. i dont take this with me on shoots, so my "LR Library" is not with me. So i have a "LR Mobile Library" that i shoot too. I then "Import Library" when i get home. This brings over the files and their ratings and such. Is this the correct workflow?

3. Since the camera looses connection sometimes (and just as a general backup) i of course shoot to cards in the camera while i am shooting. I have these files to import once i get home. How do i import (only the files that the tethered shooting missed) without creating duplicates?

4. Do you guys use folders in LR? Or just keywords? I am a former Aperture user and i liked the file structure that was obvious in Aperture. I dont see this file structure in LR. Am i missing something?

THANKS!

    2. I’d take that drive with you and just shoot, import, etc into it. I’d have the LR database, previews, all images, presets on that drive. Dedicate just LR stuff. Then you can clone that to as many other drives as you wish quickly and easily for backups and such.
    4. I use a well organized folder structure yes. In fact I name the folders representative of the images they contain, then use the Naming Template with the Folder Token to automatically name images based on the folder name. That way, outside of LR, I know exactly where to look for images and where they should reside. If they need to be moved, the F2 key easily updates the name based on the folder they reside.

How are you liking the switch to LR, if I may ask? (I'm a current Aperture user. Never touched LR, so can't offer a response to your questions ne_nau.gif).
