on some other sites [ also vBulletin ] , i see this option
images are resized automaticly to 900x600 [ or so ]
when viewer clicks on it , it pops up in original uploaded size [ with <- . -> if more images in post ]

can't you build this in too ?
looks better in forum [ IMO ]

    That feature (or something very much like it) has its appeal to a lot of users. It has been something we have looked at adding to a future version of DGrin.

    It works well on my forum. It resizes, and there are two things that happen...click on the image takes you to the host site (flickr, for example) and clicking the TEXT where it tells you it has been resized takes you to a page with the picture on full size (and resizeablre). Very handy!

    i was aiming at a vBulletin script , not redirecting
    its possible to have this within the forum itself
    the image is displayed to a smaller size , clicking shows actual image size
    images from host-sites are (almost) always redirecting

    if you guys have plans
    it looks better in vBulletin 4

    The built-in option for 3.8.5 only affects attached images:
    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html?manualversion=30805500

    I'm sure there's a plug-in that affects inline image linking. Most people will post image sizes that they find will fit on their screen, and few people run the large resolutions like 2048x1536 like I do. And those that do, will post smaller sizes in order to be considerate. The other disadvantage of high resolutions is that images can be used for all sorts of purposes without permission, so there's another automatic deterrant.

    vBulleting 4 requires a lot more on the back end to serve a community effectively. I've found it to be slow and bloated as others have. I think dgrin is just fine on the 3.8x codebase. Any needed features can be found via plugins or created.

    what you say is true , but it was just a suggestion
    if they dont want it , i dont care

    about "all sorts of purposes without permission"
    if DGrin dont want to build in copy-protect , you should take your own precautions

    edit ;
    i was not talking about v4
    i meant Marco1 , a script for v4

    edit ;
    on most versions resizing also works for embedded images

    I agree that any photographer wanting protection should take their own precautions. I know that a smaller size helps with this, and it helps the problem discussed in this thread. thumb.gif

    With v3.8.5 it's only built-in for attached images. And it's the same for v3.8.6 which I run. ne_nau.gif

    If you're finding sites that are running these versions with automatic resizing, pm the admin and ask him/her what plugin/hack is being used. Then we can recommend this to dgrin. thumb.gif

    It only comes into play for folks that post over a set size limitation. You might want to post a large image for detail or to discuss some artifact you're seeing with compression. Resizing the image makes it easier on forum users by making images viewable by greater numbers.

    As David said, we are planning to implement this for requests like this and others.

    Ahhh, I see. I didn't know you already found the plugin for vb4. So I did some research and here's a well supported plugin for vb3:
