SmugBrowser Replacement?

The old Smugbrowser .xpi worked well but is not compatible with FF 4.0. Is there any other 3rd party 'tool' that will allow bulk changes to gallery settings for Smugmug categories and sub-categories (i.e. change all galleries in Cat. XYZ from public to private)? The Gallery Change Settings tool only addresses indiv galleries and is too cumbersome to use for Cat./Sub-Cat. with many galleries.

The real answer here would be to fix the Smugmug interface to allow one to select categories or sub-categories. I know I've said this a zillion times, but this feature must have been designed/built by someone who never uses it because manually picking 20 galleries one at a time with each one manually selected through a hierarchical menu is a highly unproductive interface (and about the worst it could have been). An interface that offers a big hierarchical list all in one screen and you could check off the galleries, categories or sub-categories you wanted would be massively more productive than what Smugmug currently offers. Too bad, they missed the mark with this feature that could have been such a time saver and instead just leads to frustration. I pretty much never use it.

I gave up on SmugBrowser long ago because it was ALWAYS incompatible with the latest version of the browser I was using and was more trouble to figure out how to update it every time I wanted to use it. If it auto-updated like all the other plug-ins I use and was updated in a timely for new browser versions, I'd keep it installed and use it from time to time. But, it's not, so I don't use it any more.

I'm not aware of any other 3rd party tool that does this.

Hi, John. I too have several posts over time and submitted suggestions to make bulk gallery settings changes at the Category and Sub-Category level. UserVoice also has a number of related requests. This is one we need soon! Hope SM is listening to our 'whining' as this is a much needed fix.

Glad I saw this, another reason not to update to FF v4.

Thanks, Allen. I took your hint and reinstalled FF 3.6.16. Then manually installed the Smugbrowser .xpi plugin and all works well again. So sad that this plugin isn't being updated for FF 4 or that SM doesn't have such a tool built-in. Set FF options to not install updates automatically too!
