Texture shoot question

There a some very interesting rock formations nearby. At dawn they are bathed in amazing light. My question is, would I be better off trying to shoot them straight on? or would I get a more interesting image if I shot it at an angle? I'd like to show the lumps and bumps and shapes on this craggy rock wall.

Thanks.

I'm not an expert on such things, but the impression I've gotten is that the angle of the light hitting the rocks is far more important than the angle of the camera, in terms of showing texture. So as long as the light isn't hitting the rocks head-on but comes in at an angle or from the side, I guess it would look good.

I was wondering about that. I assumed that having the light coming from the side would illuminate the depth and shape of the stones. If the blasted snow ever goes away and/or we see a real sunrise again soon, I'll head out and try it to see what works.

    Any other thoughts anyone?

Ah Lauren - you cruel womanmwink.gif But, the snow is finally GONE! So, next time we get a sunny morning (i.e. PREDICTED clear sunrise) I'll head out and see what I can capture.
