Make a copy is adding photo to end of gallery instead of right beside original

For awhile I thought that "Make a Copy" wasn't working at all. Now I've figured out that it's working; it's just adding the copied image to the end of the gallery rather than after it like it should. In the past, it often added the copy just before the original, which is a bit counter-intuitive too, and often got me confused. But this is worse, because now you have to page all the way to the back of your gallery & find the photo in order to do anything with it. I'm hoping it can get fixed so that "Make a Copy" will add the copied photo right after the original, the way people will expect it to show up. Thanks!

Please don't worry about this on the holiday weekend; this is not something that has any urgency at all. I only noticed it's changed to what I would deem a less-handy behavior, so I'm more interested in the long-run. But anyway, I just realized when folks were talking about sort order, etc., they're probably talking about the auto-sort function that can be set in "Gallery Settings". I never use that function. I arrange manually, and also sometimes use the "Arrange Photos" tool, setting that to "Date Taken", which doesn't, to my knowledge, apply to additions to the gallery. I have to go back into the tool if I want to arrange new additions. But my copies in all my galleries have normally gone beside the original, as witnessed by the fact that I assumed no copy had been made when it didn't appear as usual!
Anyway, in answer to your question about needing a sample gallery, Andy, I couldn't even remember which one I'd copied from my archives. But I've made a number of copies in various galleries since, and have not found even one in which my copy went beside the original. All the copies I made went to the end of the gallery. So here are some of those examples. I've left the copies there for now. I copied this photo: http://www.winsomeworks.com/Nature/Seaside-Closeup-Favorites/10007920_pDL6m#645621323_yDeef & you'll see it again at the end of that gallery. Same with this one: http://www.winsomeworks.com/Nature/Trees/2725779_7MrHy#430095635_2JgD8 Same with this one: http://www.winsomeworks.com/Flowers/Star-Magnolia-stellata-Tree/11626564_sa5h9#1226723808_67Bi5 I believe these are all manually arranged galleries, although in the last one, I probably arranged it by "Date Taken" with the "Arrange Photos" tool before I manually arranged them within the gallery.

I just looked at your gallery. You're set to "none, ascending" as Miikka says in the post above. So the tool is working as we expect.
