So i was checking BRI because i get albums there, so now apparently anyone can sign up and do their own thing, you don't have to be a pro photographer to use their lab. Sucks! WHCC is also has their pricing available to anyone.:nah

Yeah that is a little troubling.

But if you also think about it, there is also an art form towards album creation. Just because the clients might be able to make their own albums, doesn't mean they will be able to create a wicked awesome design on their own. Unless they are good graphic designers...

While they might be able to see the general prices, it doesn't amount to how much time you put into the album design itself. mwink.gif

Oh, i don't argue that, it's just that, so-called "pro" labs are no longer pro. I'm seriously considering going with Wild Magnolia albums, i haven't gotten anything from FINAO yet, but i have to start working on this one. :)

Well... after seeing some samples from mr. Pike, here on FB, I think I am gonna move to Finao. Although that means.... making more sample albums.

Those nearly seamless gutters are getting to me.

That's no bueno. I didn't see that WHCC is making their pricing available to the public. Hmm... if that's true, it might be time for me to switch labs.

With albums, I can't say enough great things about Finao. Top quality and something totally different than what your clients can find on their own. All of my clients are blown away.

Do you guys disclose your album company to your clients?

If they ask, yes. I can't imagine that Finao would ever open up to non-pros. I want my clients to know that they are excellent albums.

I am curious to know why BRI and WHCC made this move. I guess making it more available to the general public might bring them more customers and profit, but, it would have been nice for it to remain for pros only.

My concern is how strictly these pro only companies regulate getting an account. I've heard stories where clients put in a fake sales tax id or whatever and they get a log in with full access.

I'd be shocked if my clients did that. I HAVE to trust my clients because they HAVE to trust me. And if they did, so what? As Ted already pointed out, being able to purchase an album and actually creating the album are two very different things. I get to know my clients pretty well by that point in the relationship and if they can't afford a $2000 album, I will suggest a different option that they can afford or work something else out.

Yeah, especially since I live in the bay area and a lot of people are familiar with Bay Photo since they're based in Santa Cruz.

    I use Queensberry.
I always tell clients where my albums come from.
In fact its a selling point.
Some enquires are specifically requesting Queensberry Albums.
The album's sell themselves, I've never had anyone see them and not want to buy one, even customers that were originally only looking for a shoot and burn.
