Hi everyone,
I have a sigma ef-500 dg super. I have had it for about 2 years (of course it is not under warranty). All of a sudden I can't get the flash to fire. I changed the batteries. The indicator light works, but I don't get a flash when I press the test button. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with it? Is it worth trying to fix or should I just buy a new one? Thanks for your help,
Nicole:dunno

The only whirrr sound is when it changes zoom setttings. It does make a clicking sound when I press the test button.ne_nau.gif

So you hear a whiring noise when you adjust the zoom and a high pitched
sort of squeal when you turn it on. The test light lights and you hear a click
when you press it (but no flash)?

Sounds like something to do with the flash tube. Time to buy a new one or
send that one back for repair. Before you send it in for repair, you might want
to check on the cost so as to avoid paying more than the flash is worth.

Thank you David and Ian. That is what I was afraid of. :cry I think it is time to upgrade to a canon flash. Nicole
