A better camera strap - RS-4 & a Carabiner

I posted here before about the Black Rapid Strap and how much I like it. But the camera can swing forward when you lean over. So I looked at the cotton carrier and the spider holster. I eventually got the holster with a think thank pro belt. But I did not like those for several reason.

But then I thought.... why not just use a carabiner between my belt or belt loops and the RS-4 strap...... It Works great !!

So I did a post and video of my thought here:

The Black Rapid RS Sport strap as well as other newer models have clips that lock the camera in place. It stays at your side or behind your back.

I don't have the Sport strap but I saw that the sport and the RS-7 and they sell another adapter strap that all seem to help lock the strap in place with an under arm band. But it connects towards the top of the strap near the middle of the chest. It looks like the camera can still swing forward when leaning over. I don't see what is to stop that.

You know how you have the adjustable bumper/stopper on the bottom part of strap? Newer straps have 2 now to lock the camera in place anywhere on the strap. It won't move from that position. If you contact BR, they will ship you an extra one out for free. One bumper behind the swivel connector and one in front to stop it from sliding forward. You slide that one all the way up your chest when not in use.

Ps I own a Cotton Carrier as well. Love it but not as practical as a BR strap.

Black Rapid Sport Extreme still swings

I went ahead and purchased the Black Rapid Sport Extreme. It has those two stops that mentioned. The good news is that it stops MOST of the swing forward. But when you lean over at a 90 degree angle this is what happens. The front stop....stops the camera from moving further up the strap. BUT the back portion of the strap slips up the back a bit and the camera comes swinging forward to the point where it is hanging about 6-12" below the belly. Each time I did it... it hit my elbow on the way. So it is still in the way and potentially might hit something.

I still think that using the RS-4 or other strap and using a carabiner, or velcro strap, or other device that won't let the strap move forward of the side of your hip by your belt it much better. So I am sticking with that and returning the sport extreme.

The strap under my arm is a little bothersome as well. But I would probably get used to it.
