Uploading crashes browser

Yesterday and today I tried uploading, but each time I try to open the uploader the window flashes blank for a few seconds then gives the message "A problem with this Webpage caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the page" and (larger) "We were unable to return you to smugmug.com. I'm using IE9 (recently updated to it) and Vista. I think the uploaded is the Simple, thought it fails and closes so fast I have no opportunity to Choose Another.

I turned off popup blocker; no help.

Any ideas?

    I'm sorry to hear you are having problems uploading your photos!

    We have found that updating your current installation of java will typically resolve this issue.

    Follow these steps to make sure your java is up to date for a PC:

    1) Go to http://www.java.com

    2) Click on "Do I have Java?" and wait for the test to run.

    3) Follow the steps to get the latest version of Java if you need it.

    Please let us know if you continue to have problems. You may also want to try restarting your machine after you update Java, then clear your browser cache/cookies.

    Or, it was related to the brief outage you have just had which crashed my browser when I was in the middle of uploading too. Nothing to do with Java at all.

    Sorry, my browser froze and crashed when I was trying to upload a little earlier and I was looking for similar problems in the forum - in my frustration I posted before I read the original post in detail 11doh.gif

    I Will try a Java update tonight and also will try using Firefox instead of IE9. Stuck at work right now.

    The problem seems to be with IE9, as uploading worked fine in Firefox. I tried updating Java in IE9 but got the same error as when I tried to upload to Smugmug!

    ZacHer0 was right -- thanks a bunch! I updated Java through Firefox and now the uploader works with IE9 as well.
