Smugmug Island not working.

I'm in the process of overhauling my site, and I wanted it off air until the changes were made.

I changed Hello world and Hello smugmuggers to No, and did it a few weeks ago.

But I find that if I put either my business name into Google, or even just my name and the town I live in, I'm there on page one of Google without expressly putting the website address in.

What's going on, I thought Smugmug Island was supposed to be invisible to Google?

SmugIsland has no ability to directly influence any content Google delivers. With SmugIslands set, Google won't index your galleries further. In addition, Google should remove already indexed galleries from their results over time. That's not something happening overnight and can take weeks or months depending on Google.

What you can do on your end is to set a site password on your site to prevent visitors from being able to access your site without knowing the password. That would also keep out visitors coming from search results. Read more on the site password here:

If you have further questions, on this, we'd need a link to your site to check what actual settings. You can contact us via our helpdesk:

    Much appreciated
