Mini Challenge #120 -- "May Flowers"

edited May 11, 2011 in The Dgrin Challenges
Since MC119 was "April Showers" (OK, "Stormy Weather") and since so many of us have been experiencing such weather this month, it seems only natural to me that the follow up Mini Challenge (#120) is "May Flowers."

As natural a choice as this seems, I have to offer the disclaimer that I do not do much in the way of flower photography...though I bet quite a few of you do. It can be macro shots or giant fields of sunflowers. Nonetheless, here are my samples...

This challenge will run through Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 9 pm (EST).

OUR UN-OFFICIAL GENERAL RULES

1. Have fun sharing and seeing what others share!

2. The host supplies a topic and you post 1-3 images. The host judges the winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) and is not eligible to enter. The 1st place winner then chooses the next topic, judges the winner and then passes on the baton to the new champion.

3. Any photo you have taken is eligible, regardless of when taken or camera used.

4. Any amount of post-processing is allowed. However, it is helpful if you list your camera and lens along with your photo. You may comment on other contestant's images. If you want someone to leave you some critique or criticism, just ask within your post.

5. The winner has up to three days (72 hours) to begin a new mini-challenge, or the honor goes to the #2 finisher and so forth.

Guidelines:

1. Enter 1-3 photos and put them in a single post.

2. Either embed your image in the thread or, if you must, supply a link to it. Keep in mind, however, most people don't want to click to open photos hosted elsewhere (i.e. on your website).

3. Also try and resize your photos prior to posting so they're sized appropriately for viewing without having to scroll (~800 pixels on the longest side works best.)

4. Give each image you enter a title.

5. Enjoy discussion with members about their images, don't let this just be an entry thread!

6. Don't be hesitant, share'em and enter!

Ok, I'm just a huge newbie, but I LOVE to take pictures of flowers. I just happened to take some today before I knew about this challenge. Laughing.gif! So I figured I might as well share. Comments and critiques are welcome.

Oh, Greg, you picked a great theme and I do think you are going to have a super tough time choosing a winner. I didn't have a single stormy weather image and I was wishing the theme were flowers so I could participate. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/Laughing.gif" border="0" alt="" >, right. Anyway, I have so many 'favorite' flower images that I am going to have a difficult time narrowing it down to just 3 to share. Ugh.

    1. New Zealand Tea Tree

    3. Texas Bluebonnets

I may change my mind later & swap images.......

    <sigh>

Did I mention that I am LOVING this theme??!!

You know how for some challenges, ya got nothin', and then for others, you have a zillion?

This one I have a zillion. If I chose tomorrow instead of today, I'd probably pick three different ones.

    #1:

    #2:
    1175192004_xPPY7-L.jpg

    #3:

There's lots more here. You can tell me which ones I should have chosen. eek7.gif
The goal of my photography is is the effective, original communication of a feeling expressing truth, beauty, or love.
