Only in Austin will you find a homeless person playing a piano placed on a pedestrian bridge at city center...

Well it is the music capital:)

Austin is so cool, and this is a nice and fitting tribute to the city because it is weird and it showing music.
I also like that it shows a homeless person in a different light.

btw--is the piano part of an art installation throughout the city?

    Liz-
Yes it is! There's currently a big push on for 'music art' around the city. This is just one of the installations and others are rolling out about this time. I might try to make a series of them as some are quite extravagant.

As far as the homeless guy, he really could play that piano. There's probably a ton of talent locked up in the homeless around the community if it only had a viable outlet to be shared with others.

A little more info on this.....

There's 14 of them around Austin for one month as part of the "Play me, I'm yours" art project. Not much time left to photograph all of them, but they appear to be in close proximity of one another so I might be able to do a series. The shot above came from location #8.

    Details on the project:

Great shot! I've seen photos of some of the other pianos around town, but this one of yours is the best I've seen yet.

If I wasn't so 'under the weather', I'd try and shoot the others around city center today. Doc says three or so days and I'll be good as new and I'm not limited in what I do. Maybe tomorrow......
