Very nice Dennis! That first shot looks a little like the penguin dance, My favorite is #3.They look like a cross of the hooded and eared which I get up here. Beautiful shots to get as those suckers can dive so quick if they even sense you , but once in a while they can pop up right in front of you.

Thanks very much Mike. Yes when they put their crest up they look real neat looking, and I agree about their eyes and that tiny puple stands out on them as well.

Thanks very much John, and I agree about their eyes scary and piercing at the same time but rather neat looking too.

Hi Deb and thanks very much for the kind words on these images. I agree can they ever dive and move fast under water. We get lucky in the area that these birds are in as they tend to come in close to us, but you are right sometimes just too close for the 500mm lens, and then you need to revert to head shots, and or nothing as they are way to close in.

One thing we found with this birds if they dive in a direction either left or right of us, they will swim almost a straight line, so we can move with them and capture them, not like some other birds we tried this with they end up all over the place. Thanks again, and hope you enjoyed these.
