Hello,

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to photograph this adorable and charming young lady. Kelsey is a real down-to-earth California girl, so in the limited time we had, I took her to a beautiful nature preserve in the East Bay hills of Livermore, CA. She prefers to wear ZERO makeup, but fortunately I didn't have much to touch-up. Love that smile!

C&C welcome!

#3 - I know her mother loves B&W images...

#5 - we wanted to include one that features the sweater of her chosen college next year.

#8 - Just for fun, I intentionally over-processed this image because I love the enchanted storybook feel to it....like a movie poster or book cover.

I'm not into tree hugging but you really made in work in #6 and your lighting on that one especially is fantastic.

2 and 6 for me. Love the setting in 2 and she looks amazing in 6.

Overall for me a bit overflashed. Next time maybe try a bit less flash power and a bit more iso to bring up the ambient.

2, 6 and 8 for me. Lighting is excellent and I like the processing in #8.

#3 looks a little flat. Could use some highlights to give it a little "pop".

    Nice set.

#6 is the winner for me. If I were you, I'd do just a little skin work on #2 & #4. It almost looks like she's having an allergic reaction (on her cheek) to the grass. What a cutie.

aww man, you mean I need to launch photoshop? ;)

Very observant. So #2 and #4 were the final location of the shoot as the sun was going down, and it started to get quite cold. She had goosebumps by then and it was showing in her purple cheeks, particularly since she wears no makeup. So we took a few final shots lying in the grass to take advantage of the wonderful natural light, and then we called it a day - missing a spectacular sunset/twilight that followed.

As senior pics go, these are fine, but they make it seem like she has a really limited repertoire of smiles. They all look pretty much the same. She's either smiling the same smile, or just staring at you. A bit more variety would have been nice.

In #8, I think a step or two to the right might have kept the trees on the right from contacting the side of her head near her left eye. A little better separation there would have been good. The "over-processing" is catchy, but you let her skin tones get rather yellowy.

All in all, though, I imagine she'll be happy with your work.
